Perimenopause Skin: Why it changes—and what to do

The goal in this season isn’t to do more. It’s to do smarter, calmer, and more consistent—and to choose products that support the skin barrier rather than overwhelm it.

What’s happening

As hormones shift, the skin often produces less sebum (your natural protective oil). Water escapes faster, the barrier becomes more reactive, and fine lines or rough texture can look more pronounced—especially around the cheeks, mouth, and eyes. You may also notice that products that once felt “fine” suddenly sting, or that your skin swings between dry and slightly shiny.

This is a barrier era. Your skin wants hydration, comfort, and daily protection.
